Hamilton city

Description of services

• A charity-based community service that supports transporting people to and from health & wellbeing appointments within the Hamilton city boundary. 
• This service operates Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). 
• Health Shuttles are staffed by volunteers and donations are welcomed to help cover operating costs.
• Bookings required at least one day in advance. 
• Service operates between the hours of 8.15am and 3.30pm.
• Phone lines are open for booking and enquiries from 8.30am till 3pm weekdays.

Other

• Allow for 30 minutes to 1 hour between pick-up and appointment time.
• Wheelchair accessibility available.

Hauraki

Description of services

• We coordinate a number of volunteers who have their own vehicles.
• Pick clients up at time that suits, take them to appointments and wait for them to be finished, then drop them home.
• Personalised service.

Area covered

• Paeroa and outlying rural areas, such as Hikutaia, Mackaytown, Netherton.
• Take clients to any hospital board appointment, usually Waikato or Thames, occasionally Auckland.

Additional services

• We also provide to transport home for discharge patients as long as it is a reasonable hour.
• A wheelchair is available for people who have trouble walking long distances.
• It is also available for community use if not needed by VD.
• A Community van is available for people needing a wheelchair as it has a wheelchair hoist.
• Approved ACC provider, will undertake transport for ACC Clients.
• Have a Community Bus, used each Friday for local trips, alternate Tuesdays to Thames for shopping. Has a wheel chair hoist, available on a casual basis.

Matamata-Piako

Description of services

• Health shuttle – Available Monday to Friday. 8 seater van with first aid, defibrillator, wheelchair etc. Driver and support person provided. Providing transport to Waikato Hospital clinics, specialist clinics and return. Bookings made at Morrinsville Community House - 07 889 5355
• Donny Van – Available Monday to Friday. Offers transport for the elderly and infirm for shopping, doctors' appointments etc. 8 seater van equipped with a wheelchair hoist. Bookings made at Morrinsville Community House - 07 889 5355

Area covered

• Health shuttle – provides transport from Morrinsville to Waikato Hospital and Hamilton specialist clinics appointments and return.
• Donny Van – within Morrinsville town boundary.

Description of services

• Patients generally phone to make their transport arrangements at least 24 hrs before the appointment date. On the evening prior to travel, the Driver will phone them, advising of their pick-up time.
• There is a Driver and a Support Person in each vehicle and they pick up the patients at their homes and deliver them right to the reception counter of the appropriate Ward, or, Clinic.
• Following the Patients appointment, the Driver, or, the Support Person will collect them from the Ward, or, Clinic, take them back to the mini-bus and deliver them back to their home.
• Transport is provided in 2 x 12 seat & 1 x 8 seat mini-buses, each equipped with a defibrillator, a wheelchair, a comprehensive first aid kit, blankets, vomit bags, water bottles and a fire extinguisher.
• On some occasions, private vehicles are also used.

Area covered

• Passengers are from the Matamata District. Urban passengers are picked up at their homes, but, due to time factors, most rural passengers make their own way in to town and travel with us from there.
• Most passengers travel to Waikato Hospital and Hamilton Clinics, but, we also transport patients to Thames, Tauranga, Rotorua and Tokoroa Hospitals and clinics.

• Te Aroha Health Shuttle - transporting clients to Hamilton, Thames, Auckland, and locally for health service appointments.
• Door to door return transport to health service appointments; for example specialists, clinics, day surgery and including ongoing regular repeat treatments.
• Hoist vehicle available.

• Support people can often be taken, depending on the number of clients needing transport. Please talk to the co-ordinator when making your booking.

Description of services

• Te Aroha Shopping Bus - weekly service for older community members to get out of the house, socialise, and complete their weekly shopping
• Fortnightly service to Morrinsville and/or Matamata, 9:30am-2pm
• Door to door return transport 

Ōtorohanga

Description of services

• Volunteers use own vehicles for transport of people to Hamilton and Te Kuiti Hospital appointments or to specialist referral appointments.

Other

• Bookings need to be made through Ōtorohanga Citizens Advice Bureau.

Ruapehu

Description of services

• The Taumarunui Mobility Van has been serving the Taumarunui area since 1991 providing a door to door passenger pick up service for the aged, disabled & those elderly with no other means of transport for medical appointments, local specialist appointments, shopping, to attend community meetings and well-being functions.
• The vehicle is fitted with a certified wheelchair hoist.
• The service is free but users are encouraged to make a modest donation where possible.

Other

• At weekends the van and driver is available for community organisations like Aged Concern, Senior Citizens, Grey Power and similar organisations for regular out of town functions or well-being trips to Auckland, Hamilton, Taupo, New Plymouth, Whanganui which can provide a better quality of life for this remote community.
• As the Taumarunui Mobility Van is a charitable organisation, for out of town excursions a suitable donation or koha would be encouraged to assist with costs.

South Waikato

Other

• This service operates Tuesday and Thurday.

Description of services

• Call Tokoroa Hospital for the St John renal shuttle and the Trikiso bus. These vehicles come from Hamilton to pick up in South Waikato.
• The renal shuttle on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starts picking up at 5.30am and leaves the hospital at 1:30pm.
• The Trikiso bus on Tuesdays and Thursdays picks up around 8.30am and leaves the hospital at around 3pm. These services are fully funded by the DHB, so are free to the user.
• Call St John at the Hamilton office weekdays 8am to 4pm for the St John shuttle – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to all Hamilton appointments (not merely the hospital) from Tokoroa and Putaruru.
• The service is run by volunteers in an 8-seater van – a door-todoor service. On the evening before travel the drivers check the bookings and organize the pickup time based on the first appointment. The shuttle returns when all appointments are finished.
• The service is funded by donations (donation envelopes are available) and by the National Travel Assistance scheme which assists some travel by community service card holders living 80km from the destination.
• Drivers have the relevant forms and will assist you. NTA payments are made directly to the service provider.

• Tokoroa, Putaruru, Tirau, Hamilton

Other

• St John will add another service on the same days which leaves Tokoroa later in the morning.

Description of services

• We operate two vans and two cars, with bases in Putaruru and Tokoroa. All vehicles carry a wheelchair, and volunteers will accompany clients to their reception areas in the hospital or other service.
• Support people will be transported if room is available.
• We return discharged patients from Waikato Hospital to their homes in the South Waikato should a shuttle be present at the time.

• We take clients to appointments organised by the Waikato DHB, including to Hamilton, Rotorua, Taupo, Matamata, Cambridge and Thames.
• We pick up and deliver door-to-door in Tokoroa, Putaruru, Arapuni and Tirau.

• We are formed from and associated with Putaruru Red Cross, which has wheelchairs, walkers and crutches for hire.

Thames-Coromandel

Description of services

• Community Transport Services - enquiries 07 866 8358
• Funded by Waikato District Health Board to provide assistance for holders of current Community Service Cards to attend hospital appointments in Thames and Waikato.
• Volunteer drivers also transport patients who are unable to drive.
• Mobility Van - CILT Thursday bookings - 07 866 8358
• This Van transports locals to and from their homes for a weekly shopping trip to Thames on Thursdays leaving Coromandel at 9am and departing from Pak 'n' Save in Thames at 2pm.
• Bookings are essential there is a suggested koha of $12 return and $6 one way.
• 9 seats are available, and it also caters for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
• The Van is owned by the Coromandel Community Services Trust. CILT organises all of the bookings and the drivers are volunteers.

• Upper Coromandel Peninsula, Colville, Port Charles, Papa Aroha, Koputauaki, Kennedy Bay, Whangapoua and Manaia.

Additional services

• The Coromandel Resource Centre is a busy 'one stop shop' for residents in the heart of Coromandel Town and upper region of the Coromandel Peninsula, providing information on health and disability services, funding to enable people to attend hospital appointments in Thames and Hamilton and rooms for agencies not located in the area to hold regular clinics.

• Eastern Coromandel Community Services offer a wide range of services, including counselling, social work, whānau support, financial mentoring, budgeting services, community classes, community van trips and hire.

Description of services

• This vehicle is a 'door to door' service which picks up dialysis patients starting from Thames around 6am on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to take them to Waikato Hospital for treatment.
• It returns in the afternoon, leaving hospital around 1:30pm.
• It may have capacity to take other passengers. Please note there is no hoist in this vehicle.

Description of services

• We provide transport to and from hospitals and medical appoints, community groups to shows and other recreational trips.
• We currently run 2 vechicles - a 7 seater and a 10 seater with a wheelchair hoist.

• We service Tairua, Pauanui and surrounding districts.
• We pick up and drop you of at your place of residence.

• We also provide a community 2 course luncheon cooked by our willing volunteers.
• We are a community based Club and we are all volunteers.

• Ford Transit Van 10 Seater (includes driver/companion and wheelchair). Is fitted with hoist for wheelchair/access, we have our own wheelchair.
• A car is also available for local trips for health related visits.

• State Highway 1 - Huntly, Taupiri, Ngaruawahia, Horotiu, Hamilton.

• Our volunteer drivers and companions have passed driver training, First Aid accredited, and police vetted.
• We accept donations/koha to help with the running of our service.

Description of services

• One vehicle, 10 seater transit van. Special tie-down facility for two wheelchairs. Electric hoist for wheelchairs.

Area covered

• Raglan township and surrounding district. Normally only providing transport from Raglan and the district to hospital and other related medical and health appointments in the city. These are done by prior booking at Raglan house.
• Also provide outings if not otherwise booked to Raglan rest home residents as available. 

Description of services

• A personalised service where a volunteer driver picks you up from your home, transports you to your medical appointment and then drops you back at home.
• We have two cars available. Both cars are equipped with a wheelchair and first aid kit.

• Cancer Society provides transport for people with cancer so they can get to and from their appointments and treatments.
• Our driving service is provided by friendly, trained volunteers who will pick you up from home or a designated meeting place and return you after your appointments.
• The volunteer driving service operates from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.  The driving service does not operate on weekends or public holidays.
• To book a driver, feel free to contact us at least 48 hours before your appointment.

• Radius of approximately 40kms including Hamilton, Huntly, Te Awamutu and Cambridge regions.

Waipa

Description of services

• All drivers are volunteers
• Drivers provide their own vehicles (purchase, registration, insurance, maintenance are their cost)
• Cambridge Community House reimburses drivers $30.00 per return journey to Hamilton, or $15 per return journey to Cambridge medical/health appointment
• Donations to Cambridge Community House Volunteer Driver Service from clients are appreciated. 74% of reimbursement costs are covered by donations from clients. There is no set donation amount, we prefer to cover driver reimbursement if a client can - all journeys requested by clients are fulfilled.

Area covered

• From Cambridge to any medical appointment in Hamilton or Cambridge - predominantly the Waikato Hospital in Hamilton but many other medical facilities are the location of the appointment.
• The client is picked up from their home address, taken to their appointment, where the driver waits for the client at reception, before returning the client to the client’s home.

• Volunteer drivers and support personnel provide a door to door shuttle service from Te Awamutu and surrounding areas to appointments at Waikato hospital and other specialist services in Hamilton, and Te Kuiti.
• Volunteers also escort clients to their appointments and collect them afterwards when notified.
• Both our vehicles have electric step access and we have the ability to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers. We have one vehicle with a wheelchair hoist and transportation system. Child seats available on request.
• Service operates Monday to Friday, except Public Holidays.
• Bookings required by 3pm the day before.
